‘Free travel to cost exchequer Rs 4,000 crore annually’

The Shakti scheme, which entails free travel for women in Karnataka in state-owned road transport corporation buses, will cost the exchequer Rs 4,050 crore annually, but it will help 44 lakh women in the state, Mysuru district in-charge minister HC Mahadevappa said on Sunday.
